Patients & visitors

B2 ward

B2 is a 28-bedded orthopaedic trauma ward, taking patients from 16 years upwards. The Ward Sisters are Jane Headlam and Janine Sharp, supported by Deputy Ward Leads Charlotte Millett and Amanda Renvoize.

The nurses work in two teams, Blue and Red. Each team has a separate nursing station and each patient’s information and records will be held at the desk for his/her team. Each bed has a notice above it showing which team and consultant is responsible for each patient.

Visiting

Visiting is from 12:00 to 20:00 daily. These times may be varied in exceptional circumstances. To arrange this, or if you wish to participate in your relative’s care or assist them at mealtimes, please speak to the Staff Nurse in charge.

Clothes

We encourage all our patients to wear day clothes during the daytime. This promotes their dignity and helps them to return to normal routines as soon as possible. Please assist us in this by ensuring you/your relative has a supply of easy-to-wear day clothes.

Telephone enquiries

Please arrange, where possible, for only one named person to phone the ward to make enquiries and to relay the information to other relatives and friends. If you are making routine enquiries, it would be helpful to the ward staff if you call between 14:00 and 15:00 as there are more nurses available on the ward between those times to speak to you. Please note confidential information can never be given over the telephone.

The numbers are:

Beds 1-13 01202  448569

Beds 14-28 01202  448558

All numbers have an answerphone 07:00-11:00. If urgent please page the coordinator via the switchboard available 08:00-16:00, Monday-Friday.

Telephones/Televisions

There are telephones/televisions by each bedside which may be rented; these are operated by cards which may be obtained from the machines at the ward entrance and on the C/E block lift landing.

Car parking

If your visiting is extended over a number of days due to special circumstances you may be entitled to a reduction in car park fees. To enquire about your entitlement please contact the Car Park Manager on level C of the car park.
