What we do

Poole Hospital provides acute services for the local population of Poole, Purbeck and East Dorset, and is the lead provider for the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch conurbation for trauma, maternity, paediatrics and ENT services.

With a history of innovation, the Trust provides pioneering services across a range of clinical specialties. The hospital is a centre of excellence and training in keyhole surgery; our elderly care unit has received national acclaim for its pioneering model of multidisciplinary care; and the nurse-led medical investigations unit has been highlighted as a benchmark in nursing innovation.

As the designated Cancer Centre for Dorset, the Trust provides cancer services for the whole of Dorset - a population of around 750,000.  Poole Hospital is also the lead provider for Dorset for neurology services and oral surgery services.

Our flagship Dorset Cancer Centre provides medical and clinical oncology services for the whole of Dorset, serving both a rural and an urban population.  We are extremely proud of these services, which deliver very good outcomes whilst at the same time, providing swift access and an exceptional patient experience.

The Trust is the lead provider in Dorset for the national bowel, breast and cervical screening programmes.
