Hospital restaurant goes green with re-usable coffee cups

Re-usable cups can now be used for hot drinks at the hospital's Dolphin Restaurant and Purbeck Rise Café to help cut waste and to benefit the environment.

Staff, patients and visitors will receive a 10 per cent discount of the price of a hot beverage if they bring their own reusable cup. If you don’t have your own, reusable cups can be purchased from the restaurant for £3 and, unlike single-use cups, can be re-used again and again.

“It’s a fantastic initiative that will both reduce waste to landfill and save costs for the trust,” said Kevin Bailey, catering services manager.

“If you’re popping down to the restaurant for a hot drink, please bring a re-usable cup with you or purchase one from the cashiers.

“Every single-use cup we don’t use will benefit the hospital and the environment.”

In the UK seven million disposable coffee cups are purchased every day so using a recyclable cup for your morning coffee or afternoon tea could really make a difference.
