Dome corridor to close as work starts on new Changing Places toilets and patient information hub

The hospital will soon have its first Changing Places toilets and a new patient information hub.

Changing Places are enhanced disabled changing facilities that contain equipment to help people with limited mobility to use the toilet comfortably or get changed privately.

The patient information hub will be an area for patients, carers and visitors to access information and advice and to give feedback about their experiences of being in hospital and participate in engagement events.

The corridor leading to Pink Zone staircase (C/E Block) from the dome will be closed for up to two weeks from Monday (8 July) for these renovation works to be completed.

The hooped section of the dome roof and the C/E Block staircase will be removed and replaced with a flat roof that will incorporate two rooflights to preserve natural light.

Scaffold will erected over the weekend and into next week.  Diversions will be put in place for staff, patients and the public to follow.

This installation is part of the second phase of the Main Entrance project and will replace the Costa Coffee in the dome and the café’s seating area will be repurposed into a new patient experience centre.
