Advice on emergency care

Winter is always a busy time for A&E departments, and this year is no exception. To support us, we would ask the public to use health services appropriately and responsibly to ensure that our valuable resources can be prioritised for those in need of urgent life-saving care.

Poole Hospital exteriorFor non-emergency care, a range of alternatives are available, including GP practices, drop-in sessions at health centres and minor injuries units, pharmacies and the NHS 111 telephone service. Full details of these can be found on http://www.nhs.uk/

We ask the public not to attend hospital if they have, or recently had, flu or other winter illnesses like norovirus.

To support the hospital to provide effective care, nearly 90 per cent of our frontline staff have had a flu vaccination this winter, helping to protect not only themselves but their patients, colleagues and families too.
