1,000 years’ service recognised at Poole Hospital
Staff with a combined millennia of NHS service
were recognised this week at Poole Hospital’s annual long service
awards.
More than 40 staff were honoured for the
contribution they make in support of patient care, with roles
represented including nurses, doctors, midwives, secretaries,
researchers, technicians and managers.
Together they have notched up a remarkable
1,015 years of service.
Trust chairman, Steve Erskine, presented
recipients with a certificate and commemorative gift, telling the
audience ‘you are what binds our services together.’
“You are who puts a human face or voice to
what we do, and ensure our patients and colleagues receive the very
best care and service possible,” he said.
“Today we recognise more than 1,000 years of
service – 1,015 to be precise – a millennia of service.
“Tens of thousands, if not hundreds of
thousands, of patients and colleagues have benefitted from your
skills and expertise over those years.”
One recipient, Hilary Fenton-Harris, has
served an incredible 40 years. Hilary is the RCN lead steward,
staff-side chair of the Staff Partnership Forum, and for many years
the co-ordinator of the Poole Africa Link charity.
The event was held in the hospital’s
boardrooms, and was followed by afternoon tea.
