New look Royal Voluntary Service café opens its doors

A new Royal Voluntary Service café has opened the doors with healthier eating options, increased seating and a more modern look.

The refurbished Tea & Co café re-opened earlier this month and is situated in the hospital’s outpatients area and will serve staff, visitors and patients in a modern, contemporary environment.

There is an enhanced menu on offer for staff, visitors and patients including fresh fruit and healthy snacks and lunch options, as well as increased room for seating.

The Royal Voluntary Service has been running the café in the hospital for many years and it attracts a huge number of customers every day.

At the heart of the café are its 50 trained, caring volunteers, who as well as preparing and serving food and drinks, signpost people to other services in their local community and bring comfort, company and compassion to customers.

“We are delighted with how the new café looks and it will continue to provide a much valued service to staff and patients,” said Mark Mould, chief operating officer.

“I would like to thank the charity and its volunteers for the enormous contribution they make to the trust."

Olly Young, retail area manager for Royal Voluntary Service in the South, said: “We are delighted to open our latest Tea & Co cafe at Poole Hospital. 

“We hope customers and volunteers alike will enjoy spending their time in the bright, attractive space and that the enhanced menu will prove popular with hospital staff and visitors.

“Our volunteers are amazing and really enjoy what they do. We can’t thank them enough for the support they provide at the hospital, day in, day out.”
