CSR - governing body response

Responding to NHS Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group's governing body's decision on 18 May to approve the recommendation that the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site is the preferred option for Dorset’s major emergency hospital, Mr Robert Talbot, medical director for Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said:

"While we’re clear about the need for change, we believe that the number of key services already provided here (such as our emergency department, trauma, integrated cancer care, maternity and child health) as well as our central location place us in an extremely strong position.

"Therefore, we’re disappointed that the CCG's governing body does not share our view that the logical site for the county’s major emergency hospital is the one that is already providing these services to the people of east Dorset.

“We are extremely appreciative of the public support we have received to date, and whatever the final outcome, we will continue to work hard to preserve and build on the high standards and unique philosophy of care that we provide each day to our patients and their families."
