AFC Bournemouth Christmas visit

AFC Bournemouth Christmas visitPremier League stars from AFC Bournemouth visited younger patients at Poole Hospital yesterday, 21 December, to wish them a Merry Christmas and give out some early Christmas gifts.

Youngsters, parents and staff met players and club representatives during the annual Christmas visit to the children’s unit.

Simon Francis, team captain, said the annual visit is important to the club.

“It’s so important to the club to give something back to the people of Bournemouth and Poole,” he said. “Visits like this mean a lot to us. We’re fortunate to receive great support from the local community and it’s nice to be able to offer that back when others are going through a difficult time.”

Karen Fernley, acting matron for the children’s unit, said the children and their families were very excited ahead of the visit.

“We’re so grateful to the players, and the club, for finding the time to come in and show their support – it wasn’t just the children that were thrilled, the parents and staff were quite star struck too!."
