Long Service Awards 2016

Remarkable careers and outstanding contributions to patient care representing nearly 900 years of NHS service have been the focus of a special awards event.

At the long service awards event at Poole Hospital last week thirty four members of staff were honoured. They were rewarded for their loyalty and commitment to patients when they received an award for completing 25 or 40 years of continuous service.

Staff represented services including nursing, PAs and secretaries, catering, portering, radiographers, radiotherapists, theatre staff and orthopaedic specialists.

The event saw trust chairman Angela Schofield present recipients with a small gift and special lanyard denoting their milestone, as well as a certificate.

Angela said: “This was a great opportunity to celebrate the motivation, dedication and commitment of our wonderful staff.  We all know that working in the NHS can be challenging. Against that backdrop, the achievements of these award winners are remarkable and it is only right that we recognise their on-going commitment to our patients.”

Debbie Cook, emergency department’s reception manager, has been with the Trust for 40 years. She said: “I have loved working here and my time at the Trust has been a happy one. I especially enjoy the camaraderie with the team who are like one big family to me. It’s also been pleasing to see the recent investments which have made a nicer environment for patients. “

The long service awards are part of Poole Hospital’s staff recognition scheme and are held annually.
