Unique new training programme helps support workers progress

education programmePoole Hospital is the first hospital and training provider to run the Level 3 Certificate in Bridging Skills for Higher Education (QCF).

This unique programme has been designed by Skills for Health and is aimed at supporting healthcare support workers who wish to take university nursing and other health professional educational programmes in England.

In order for this programme to be provided the trust has in place a progression agreement with Bournemouth University, which guarantees an interview to the learner on completion of their award and the achievement of an Advanced Apprenticeship in Health Level 3; achieved at the hospital.

The programme is designed to develop the study skills that healthcare learners need to progress and succeed in higher education.

Poole Hospital’s education centre is a highly commended training provider with outstanding reports for the provision, quality and range of vocational programmes and apprenticeship in health.

We are the only trust in Dorset to have a vocational centre providing apprenticeship for healthcare support workers, ensuring training is patient centred and aimed at delivering the best possible standard of care for the patients.
