Junior doctors industrial action

The British Medical Association (BMA) has confirmed that their junior doctors have voted to take three days of industrial action next month.

This action will begin from 8am Tuesday 1 December to 8am Wednesday 2 December. During this period junior doctors will provide the same level of service that happens in their given specialty, hospital or GP practice on a Christmas Day. The industrial action will then be escalated to a full walk-out from 8am to 5pm, Tuesday 8 December and on Wednesday 16 December.

Poole Hospital has a good relationship with its staff and is working closely with junior doctors and the BMA to put in place processes to ensure essential services are protected. The objective is to maintain patient safety and the smooth running of the hospital during this period..In order to maintain safe care we are currently rearranging some outpatients and surgery appointments to enable consultants and other clinical staff to support inpatient care on the days of action. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that this may cause you, your friends and family.

We would like to reassure you that at all times the welfare and safety of our patients is paramount. With a planned and measured approach we hope to be able to minimise any disruption on our services during the next few weeks.
