About us

Poole HospitalPoole Hospital is an acute general hospital based on the south coast of England. The trust has an income of around £240 million each year, and employs around 3,600 staff.

The hospital has a 24-hour major accident and emergency department and is the designated trauma unit for east Dorset, serving a population of around 500,000 people.

In addition, the hospital’s flagship Dorset Cancer Centre provides medical and clinical oncology services for the whole of Dorset, serving a total population of over 750,000.

We are proud of the good reputation Poole Hospital enjoys within the local community, both as a provider of first-class health care services and as a major employer.

Both St Mary’s Maternity Hospital and Forest Holme, the palliative care unit, are located a short walk from the main hospital.

We consistently feature within the top twenty per cent in both national patient and staff satisfaction surveys.

  • saw 68,070 patients in our emergency department
  • delivered 4,242 babies
  • saw 29,936 radiotherapy attendances
  • saw 87,148 new outpatients and 139,632 follow-up outpatients
