Alcohol care and treatment service (ACTS)
The alcohol care and
treatment service (ACTS) is a multi-disciplinary team
offering appropriate evidenced based treatment for any individual
experiencing an alcohol problem.
We see individuals as inpatients following a
referral from hospital staff. Individuals are also seen on an
outpatient basis for assessment, care planning and treatment such
as continuation of detoxification and/or support sessions.
We work in partnership with local drug
and alcohol services, allowing us to seamlessly link our patients
with suitable, community based treatment and support services.
Poole Hospital is also an approved provider
for Dorset County Council to provide elective admission for
medically assisted alcohol withdrawal.
In addition to the hospital based services we
also have an innovative assertive outreach alcohol team (AOAT), the
AOAT offer intensive support to those that attend hospital
regularly as a consequence of their problematic alcohol use
