The Equipment
The Dorset Endometriosis Centre has a range of specialist equipment for the treatment of endometriosis.
Carbon Dioxide Laser
The DEC has a brand-new state-of-the-art carbon dioxide laser specifically designed for the treatment of endometriosis. This is one of only eleven available in NHS hospitals throughout the whole of England. Laser was the first surgical treatment for endometriosis shown to be effective in a randomised placebo controlled trial. Since then the equipment has been refined, and the latest model can deliver outstanding power and accuracy.
Harmonic Scalpel
Using minute ultrasonic movement of the tip if these instruments, tissue can be cut and sealed with far less heat and damage to surrounding tissues than other techniques.
The technology in this field continues to evolve and the centre uses the highest specification of Harmonic equipment currently available
High Definition Digital Imaging
With the evolution of high-definition digital imaging, the clarity of laparoscopic images is outstanding. This allows both more accurate identification of endometriosis and more accurate surgery.
The centre use true High Definition 1080P equipment to optimise identification and treatment of the disease
