Dame Yvonne Moores appointed to take over as Interim Chair at Poole Hospital

Former Chief Nursing Officer of England, Dame Yvonne Moores has been appointed as Vice Chairman of Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and will take up the role of Interim Chair from 1 December 2010.
Dame Yvonne, who lives in Ferndown, has been a Non Executive Director of Poole Hospital since 1 November 2006. She was appointed as the Vice Chairman by the Council of Governors on 23 November 2010, and will take up the role as Interim Chair when Mr Peter Harvey retires from the substantive role on 30 November.
Dame Yvonne was the Chief Nursing Officer for England and a Director of the NHS Executive with particular responsibility for quality issues from 1992 to 1999.Prior to that, she was the Chief Nursing Officer for Wales from 1982 to 1987 and of Scotland from 1988 to 1991.
Dame Yvonne is also currently Pro-Chancellor of Bournemouth University, Non-Executive Director of the National House Building Council, and Patron of the Association of Continence Advisers. She has a strong interest in promoting health in developing countries and is the driving force behind Poole Hospital’s link with Wau Hospital in the Southern Sudan.

Dame Yvonne’s strong clinical background and her commitment to improving quality will ensure that Poole Hospital remains focussed on providing first class patient services in a safe environment at all times whilst we work towards returning to financial balance in the new financial year’.
The process for recruiting for a substantive new Chair will begin in the New Year.
