Poole Hospital’s Emergency Department has been rated one of the best in the country for the quality of care it provides in a new independent survey.

The Hospital was also rated as one of the best nationally for treating patients with dignity and respect, with 78% of respondents stating that they were treated with dignity at all times, again ranking Poole in the top ten trusts nationwide.

The Healthcare Commission surveyed 151 Emergency Departments as part of its new report.

Steve Frost, Matron for Emergency Care at Poole Hospital said: “These results reflect the hard work and dedication of our staff. The doctors, nurses and support staff in the Emergency Department are committed to providing patients with the highest standard of care. This fits in with our work towards becoming a Practice Development Unit in April 2009, which focuses on putting the patient and their family at the centre of their care.”
